The nervous one said, "This can't be good."
The young fool jumped on some silly whim,
Then cried and shouted, "I cannot swim!"
So the lifeguard pulled him out by his hair
And the wise teacher told him, "You mustn't go there."
The small man was wary of water, too,
But the giant just laughed and stomped right through.
The poet admired its beauty and strength
While the scientist tried to measure its length,
And the fisherman cast his line from a boat
While the sailor was happy to just be afloat.
The child made rafts from paper and paste
And someone was dumping their barrels of waste,
And someone was laughing, and someone was dreaming,
And someone was crying, and someone was screaming.
The old man just smiled and remembered before
When he first came to visit the lake's gentle shore.
Said the man who had drowned, "Not this thing again."
"Send help," said I, who'd fallen in!
